Stuff We've Found & Stuff We Like
Young people sleeping in until 4.30am!

Day 2 at Ironman. Well we are all up early to steward the swimmers, who all look like penguins in the early morning mist. Once they get back we will help them to get out of their wetsuits (their hands get really cold when they swim and they can’t get out of their wetsuits!) and then send them off for the bike ride.

The bag sorting comes next and then it’s off for breakfast with bacon sandwiches, cereal’s, sandwiches and lashings of hot tea, coffee and hot chocolate.

We will let you know later how we get on with the refreshment and food point for the runners.

Today at Ironman

Well we made it here and we set up camp overlooking the lake. The weather is a bit on and off but that is to be expected at Wimbleball Lake. The main party tent is up and we are now off to register and pick up our lovely ‘CREW’ t-shirts. we are then going to help set up the site and get the 1,700 athlete’s tagged and ready for the great race tomorrow.Haven’t spotted Simon Cowell yet.

Bath and West Crew - Day 1.  Only eight dogs found today, which is actually a good thing.  Let’s see how it goes as the weather gets warmer later in the week.

The Volunteer Network is going to Westminster

This morning The Volunteer Netwrok has embarked on a journey to the Capital City ‘London’!! Heading there by train then tube is all part of the adventure with the final aim of arriving at the Houses of Parliament.

The Volunteer Network has been invited under the reAction project in Yeovil which is aimed at improving young people’s life chances through volunteering and training. The project is supported by Lloyds TSB Foundation Trust who are hosting this event to allow MPs and other officials to find out about the good work going on across the country and what shortfalls there may be as well as an opportunity for MPs to learn a little about the struggles of our young people.

We will share our good practice and advice with those at the top today, and inform them of all our projects and areas in which we work. Including Kick Start, reAction, Big Somerset and all the training packages we offer.

For now I must return to my train journey and by the wonders of technology continue to work. Watch out for an update on how the event is going!!
